Our visit to the Waitrose Cookery School
It’s rare that we get a quiet moment at Robert Welch but, luckily, our very own PR Manager managed to free up some time for a visit to Waitrose’s newest cookery school, in Salisbury. At Robert Welch, we’re immensely proud to be in partnership with Waitrose supplying their schools with utensils, kitchen knives and all sorts of gadgets to make the experience of cooking a little easier.
From the budding chef to the baking sensation, Waitrose offers a variety of mouth-watering cookery lessons to suit every individual. It’s a fantastic opportunity to perfect your skills (or learn some new ones) in the kitchen through relaxed demonstrations and practical advice. Each course (and there are a lot to choose from) covers the basics; knife skills, getting your timings right and even some lifestyle advice too.
After being greeted with a warm welcome by the friendly team, Lee and the rest of the group soon found themselves stuck-in, creating their delicious menu of the day:
Starter: Spiced bream with orange, feta & herb salad
Main: Saffron chicken with tahdig rice & spinach yogurt
Dessert: Cardamom panna cotta with rose syrup
Each dish required a different set of skills and the visitors were really put through their paces using Signature knives and utensils as they prepared each dish; filleting fish, jointing poussin, chopping vegetables and slicing fruit. Thankfully, with a talented (and patient) teacher, Sarah, and lots of hands-on experience, the dishes were a success: We’ve been dreaming of creamy cardamom panna cotta ever since.
