Design Notes
Trattoria Bright cutlery has a traditional appearance inspired by European bistro dining. It is a redesign of a wooden handled range of cutlery called Bistro, originally designed by Robert Welch in the early 1960s.
The pattern evolved from a desire for less formal styling, suitable for increasingly casual meal settings. At the time it was described as 'attractively rustic' with its riveted rosewood handles. This modern variant of the much-loved 1960s classic instead uses moulded dishwasher-safe handles with a satin finish to give a warm and engaging tactility.

Care & Need to Know
We recommend washing your cutlery/flatware in the dishwasher:
• Wash on a short hot cycle 65°-75°C (150°-167°F)
• Use quality branded all in one dishwasher tablets*
• Keep Rinse Aid topped up and Salt (for hard water areas).
• Avoid washing with non-stainless steel metals (this can cause rust staining - especially on knives).
• Ensure the dishwasher filters are cleaned and use a proprietary dishwasher cleaner regularly.
*For UK customers we recommend Fairy Platinum Plus and for US customers Cascade Platinum Plus.
When washing your Cutlery/Flatware by hand:
Rinse cutlery/flatware to remove all traces of food as soon as possible after use. Wash in warm soapy water with a microfibre cloth or non abrasive brush**. Try to avoid soaking your cutlery/flatware and always dry thoroughly immediately after washing.
**Always avoid scouring with pads or abrasive cleaners as this will scratch the surface.
To restore your finish on your cutlery/flatware we recommend using a dry microfibre cloth.

Design Story: Trattoria
Trattoria cutlery began life in the early 1960s as a set of handmade models for a range of kitchen knives. A steak knife was added, and it was this that sparked the idea for a new cutlery design. The knife project didn’t materialise, but Bistro wooden handled cutlery and 'steak eaters' was developed instead.
“I set great store by models and prototypes, and by working in three dimensions. With any new job I try to make something as quickly as possible. Having a workshop to do solid scribbles in has become absolutely vital to me” Robert Welch, c.1966
