Design Notes

Radford Satin cutlery has a classic design that is versatile enough to complement any table setting. It is a classical English design, but owes its origins to the contours and balance of traditional eighteenth century cutlery, a heritage which imbues it with timeless appeal.

The pattern is an evolution of Premier, originally designed in 1984 by Robert Radford Welch as a modern equivalent to the shape and weight of Georgian cutlery.

It was restyled, renamed and relaunched in his memory in 2003.

Designed specifically for smaller hands, the individual items of children's cutlery are the perfect complement to your table setting.

Read our guide on how to set a table for all occasions.

Radford Satin cutlery is part of Cutlery Collection 5.0 - All pieces in this collection are made from best quality 18/10 stainless steel, a heavier gauge which features exceptional balance and comfort. All patterns in this collection are sold at one price.

Care & Need to Know

We recommend washing your cutlery/flatware in the dishwasher:
• Wash on a short hot cycle 65°-75°C (150°-167°F)
• Use quality branded all in one dishwasher tablets*
• Keep Rinse Aid topped up and Salt (for hard water areas).
• Avoid washing with non-stainless steel metals (this can cause rust staining - especially on knives).
• Ensure the dishwasher filters are cleaned and use a proprietary dishwasher cleaner regularly.
*For UK customers we recommend Fairy Platinum Plus and for US customers Cascade Platinum Plus.

When washing your Cutlery/Flatware by hand:
Rinse cutlery/flatware to remove all traces of food as soon as possible after use. Wash in warm soapy water with a microfibre cloth or non abrasive brush**. Try to avoid soaking your cutlery/flatware and always dry thoroughly immediately after washing.

**Always avoid scouring with pads or abrasive cleaners as this will scratch the surface.

To restore your finish on your cutlery/flatware we recommend using a dry microfibre cloth.

Designing the Robert Welch way

Designing the Robert Welch way

Robert Radford Welch MBE, RDI was one of the most respected British designers of the 20th century. He believed that everyone should be able to use beautifully designed products in everyday life. After training as a silversmith at the Royal College of Art in London, he specialised in design for stainless steel, establishing a company in his own name in 1955.

Today, the company works to ensure its rich legacy remains an inspiration to the design team, whilst continuing to innovate in terms of technique and technology.
