Design Notes

Bud Bright cutlery is a delicate and refined addition to any table setting. The design takes inspiration from the unfurling buds of lotus flowers and water-lilies and captures the formal beauty of nature.

Each piece has a slender, stem-like handle which slightly elongates past the palm to emphasise the line. The subtly tapered handle of the spoons and forks ensures a comfortable grip and the short blade of the knife balances out the pattern.

The pattern achieved the Red Dot Design Award in 2010 and the Chicago ‘Good Design’ Award for excellence in design in 2011.

Care & Need to Know

We recommend washing your cutlery/flatware in the dishwasher:
• Wash on a short hot cycle 65°-75°C (150°-167°F)
• Use quality branded all in one dishwasher tablets*
• Keep Rinse Aid topped up and Salt (for hard water areas).
• Avoid washing with non-stainless steel metals (this can cause rust staining - especially on knives).
• Ensure the dishwasher filters are cleaned and use a proprietary dishwasher cleaner regularly.
*For UK customers we recommend Fairy Platinum Plus and for US customers Cascade Platinum Plus.

When washing your Cutlery/Flatware by hand:
Rinse cutlery/flatware to remove all traces of food as soon as possible after use. Wash in warm soapy water with a microfibre cloth or non abrasive brush**. Try to avoid soaking your cutlery/flatware and always dry thoroughly immediately after washing.

**Always avoid scouring with pads or abrasive cleaners as this will scratch the surface.

To restore your finish on your cutlery/flatware we recommend using a dry microfibre cloth.

Design Story: Bud

Design Story: Bud

Taking inspiration from the bud of the lotus, this pattern really captures the formal beauty of nature. The tightly wrapped and pointed shoot of the flower appears through foliage floating on the water’s surface - a tall, slender stem, unfurling and fragrant. It was intended to suit a more refined style of dining emerging at the time and Kit deBretton Gordon recalls her brief: "an elongated design with a delicacy to mirror the elegance of fine dining. I loved creating something unique and unlike anything we had in the Robert Welch portfolio at the time."
