Design Notes
Stanton Bright cutlery was Robert Welch's final cutlery design. Developed over several years, he designed the knives to be perfectly balanced. The pattern is an example of beautiful and exact sculpture, but also of cutlery which is comfortable to use.
The Stanton range shares its name with the village of Stanton in Gloucestershire around 10 miles from Chipping Campden where Robert Welch Designs has been based since 1955.

Care & Need to Know
We recommend washing your cutlery/flatware in the dishwasher:
• Wash on a short hot cycle 65°-75°C (150°-167°F)
• Use quality branded all in one dishwasher tablets*
• Keep Rinse Aid topped up and Salt (for hard water areas).
• Avoid washing with non-stainless steel metals (this can cause rust staining - especially on knives).
• Ensure the dishwasher filters are cleaned and use a proprietary dishwasher cleaner regularly.
*For UK customers we recommend Fairy Platinum Plus and for US customers Cascade Platinum Plus.
When washing your Cutlery/Flatware by hand:
Rinse cutlery/flatware to remove all traces of food as soon as possible after use. Wash in warm soapy water with a microfibre cloth or non abrasive brush**. Try to avoid soaking your cutlery/flatware and always dry thoroughly immediately after washing.
**Always avoid scouring with pads or abrasive cleaners as this will scratch the surface.
To restore your finish on your cutlery/flatware we recommend using a dry microfibre cloth.

Design Story: Stanton
The trademark of Robert Welch's designs created during the 1990s were sculptural shapes and curves inspired by natural forms. However, as with all of his designs, inspiration did not impose on functionality: Stanton was created to be perfectly balanced and satisfying to hold and use.
His approach to design was fundamentally practical and functional. His cutlery designs often evolved from looking at photographs of how the hand holds a knife, fork or spoon, before he modelled in 3D what he observed, using plasticine. He spoke of the importance of having a workshop to make what he called ‘solid scribbles’.
