For 70 years, design has been in our DNA. Creating beautiful, functional pieces that challenge convention and deliver exceptional performance, has always been the beating heart of the Robert Welch brand.
Design Director Paul deBretton Gordon collaborated with leading US retailer Williams Sonoma to design a range of stainless-steel barware to complement its best-selling Dorset glassware. The result is Dorset barware: a masterpiece in stainless steel – a collection of bold, sophisticated and meticulously crafted pieces, designed to elevate any home.
WHERE IT BEGAN
Williams Sonoma’s branded stores number around 150 and, like us, the company has a global reach.
For 20 years, its elegant Dorset glassware has been flying off the shelves. Deeply fluted wine glasses, Champagne coupes, highballs, martini glasses and decanters form a striking collection.
Inspiration came in the form of an Old Fashioned glass – a short linear tumbler designed for spirits.
“The whisky tumbler was in the design studio, and I kept going back to it for inspiration,” said Paul.
“There were so many elements to consider, but the cylindrical shape of the tumbler and highball seemed classic and timeless, and so I took my design cues from them for our new Dorset barware.”
LET THERE BE LIGHT
Fascinated by the way the multi-faceted glass design caught the light, Paul set out to recreate this shimmering, crystal-like quality in stainless-steel.
As Dorset evolved, prototypes were made, designs tested and performance measured.
The result is a striking collection of iconic barware pieces which include a double-walled ice bucket and wine cooler, wine coaster and pitcher – which are as practical as they are beautiful.
Geometrically designed facets at the base form a jewel-like prism, casting a radiant sunburst reflection across the table.
Dorset brings elegance to every setting.

“The design is geometric, linear and architectural. Each flute has been meticulously crafted so it bounces the light around on the table, like crystal glassware. It’s really quite magical.”

Elegantly fluted, the double-walled ice bucket is designed to keep ice frozen for longer and makes a dramatic statement. With a 2.2L capacity, the close-fitting lid and double-walled construction keep contents cold without transferring condensation to the table or bar.
Dorset Double-Walled Wine Cooler
Designed with a double-walled construction, this ingenious cooler keeps wine and Champagne cold for longer, without condensation marking the table. Adding a few ice cubes to the bottom will keep chilled wine cooler for longer.
